Using Relanote

What is bi-directional link and how to use it

The bi-directional linking is at the core of Relanote. Although it seems small, this is a powerful feature that will allow you to set notes organization pretty much on autopilot. The bi-directional link in its essence is a way of creating a connection between 2 notes (ideas). Once you create that link, in each note you will see the connection.
In order to create a bi-directional note in Relanote, all you need to do is to use the symbol @ and continue typing. It will search in your current notes if you have a note with that title and will help you reference it. If there is no such note, you can create one on the spot, without leaving the current one.

Tags in Relanote

Tags are created by typing the # symbol in a note. You can type it anywhere in the body of the note to create or use an already available one. Tags are used to help you organize and filter through your notes. It is particularly useful if you have a growing number of notes into Relanote.

Are there any shortcuts that I can use?

Currently, the available shortcuts are:

  • Use @ while writing a to make a link
  • Use # while writing a to make a tag

We are planning on allowing custom shortcuts creation to help you be even more productive and fit Relanote in your workflow..

Search your notes

The search feature currently offers a simple and easy to use way to find the notes you are looking for. We are currently working on adding new filtering options directly into the search bar.

I’m used to organizing my notes into Folders and subfolders

Although the networked notes organization that was enabled by the bi-directional links offers a novel and more powerful way of managing your thoughts, the old and tested hierarchical method is here to stay. If you prefer sorting everything in folders and subfolders, Relanote can help you do that as well.
To move your notes, open a note, click on the three dots on the top right corner and select the Category in which the note to be moved.

Dark theme

If you need a more easy on the eyes theme, we have developed a Dark theme that can be enabled and disabled from the button located in the top right corner of your screen.

What is Graph view?

The Graph offers you a bird’s eye view of all your notes and how they are connected. If you are utilizing the bi-directional linking organization instead of the hierarchical, the graph is the tool for making sense of your personal knowledge base.

Can I share a note?

Yes. Notes can be privately shared of published for free public access. This feature is available to Pro subscribers. This feature is NOT availalbe on the free plan.

Full encryption – how does it work?

This feature is still in closed beta and will be available shortly. This feature is NOT available on the free plan.
All your data is first encrypted on your device and then stored on our secure servers. The process is relatively simple but incredibly secure – your device -> your notes are encrypted -> stored on our secure servers -> decrypted when you are using Relanote.

I’m currently using Evernote/Roam Research/Notion – can I Import my notes?

This feature is still in development and will be available in Q2 2023.
