Our mission is to help you organize your thoughts and ideas in a meaningful and actionable way. We are envisioning a note-taking tool that is easy to use, utilizes notes organization relying on both hierarchical and non-hierarchical approaches, and allows you to protect your data with note encryption.
While others are taking the VC approach, we are on a slow but steady path. We are bootstrapping our way to the top.
Oh yes, bootstrapping means that we are funding the project with the present revenue - slowly but steadily building a community of happy Relanote users.
Couple of reasons (in no particular order) why we chose this way
The ultimate metric - being profitable
Bootstrapping means that you need to be lean in your expenses, listening very carefully to your users, and building a product that matters. Building a product that people like and are paying for. In other words, you need to be mindful and on top of the process of building and interacting with the users.
Being profitable means that we are growing our paying users base. If that is the case, then we are developing a product that matters and is aligned with our mission.
Being profitable and debt-free gives us complete control and freedom to operate. It allows us to stick to our mission no matter what.
Easier to operate
Not dealing with investors, meetings, spreadsheets, and all the work coming from being VC funded buys us time to focus on the product. Being profitable means that we will be able to be mindful of what to do and what not to.
Bootstrapping is the ultimate approach that allows us to stick to our mission and make a change in the way ideas are organized, protected, and shared.
Being profitable does not mean doing anything to squeeze every last penny.
Being profitable does not mean that all you care about is the numbers.
Being profitable is a clear sign that you are creating value. It is a metric that reflects how well your solution works, saves time, and helps people being productive and creative.
